Politics Kinda Suck

I used to be the biggest political junkie I knew. I loved all things political, I loved geopolitics, I loved political history, I loved rallying behind causes bigger than me. For years, I aspired to be a foreign service officer, working abroad in the interests of the federal government to represent America on a global stage and help out both the US and foreign countries in which I took interest. Consistently I would wake up and be a machine of political thoughts and opinions. “Donald Trump” and “ISIS” and all that kind of stuff was all that was on my mind most times. If only I knew how stupid it really was.

I’m not here to convince you to be politically apathetic- I’m just telling you why I am. Politics are the ultimate sham, through and through, absolutely no exceptions. You know what the best kind of politician is? One who keeps his mouth shut and his money in his wallet. There is no such thing as a good politician, and in this modern era of corruption and tyranny, you shouldn’t trust ANYONE who runs for public office above a local level. Even worse, never support anyone who promises you ANYTHING, because more likely than not you’ll expect more and end up with less than if you support someone who is at least honest in their corruption. Think of it this way- would you rather your blood get sucked by a mosquito, plainly visible on your arm, or a leech who crawls up your skin and hides itself on your back? They both suck your blood at the end of the day, but one is simply an enemy and one is simply a traitor, and traitors are far worse than enemies.

Look, I’m unbiased, I hate everyone’s favorite political messiah, so you can’t judge me for being partial to one side. All of your favorite politicians are clowns.

Every Presidential Administration, almost without fail, for the past 100 years have been a complete and utter joke.

People get so tied up in their ridiculous political parties and party feuds that they forget at the end of the day that we’re all human. Liberals and Conservatives alike and everyone between and on the fringes seem to get lost in their party ideologies and in supporting the new party ideologue of the year that we forget we all have common needs, wants, goals, and desires. The Constitution says it outright- Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

In this modern era, where people are increasingly depressed and dependent on big pharma, where the class divide is getting bigger every day, where the average person is completely glued to their electronics and dependent on echo chambers to get all their information, where anyone who thinks contrary to someone’s ideas is simply dehumanized and called a series of increasingly meaningless slurs to shut them up, people are living shorter and less healthy lives, people’s rights are increasingly being stripped away or outright ignored, and it seems that no one’s really just outright happy anymore. I could blame this on our increased reliance to technology such as smartphones and the internet–which is a part of it to be sure and something I don’t think should be discredited as an old fogey argument–however the root of the problem is our obsession with politics, and our willingness to be cattle on our way to the slaughterhouse, led all the way there by our political overlords.

Do you know why this makes me so mad? Because I was a pawn, and I saw just how destructive politics were to my happiness, my social life, and my mental health. When you get sucked into politics, especially in this day and age of social media and cancel culture, it’s very hard to get out. What makes me angry, however, is knowing that what I got sucked into and what most Americans are still stuck in now is little more than a willing suicide of individualism to simply get a little rush of dopamine. That herd mentality deeply rooted inside us tells us to be happy whenever we act in a group, and what better group to act in than a mass of millions of fellow lemmings all following the order of a sociopath or a conman who knows how to pull the strings?

This is incoherent, and I know it. It’s not my typical writing style, but I’m really speaking from the heart here. People get so involved in cultural issues and political debates we learn to hate our fellow man. There’s nothing more destructive to society than when we all focus on hating our fellow man for which liar they choose to believe; we, as a nation and as the human race should be focusing on putting these liars in their place for lying to us for so long, for stealing our money, our happiness, and our future. I hate seeing my friends divided on issues which have no right to be dividing them and brewing such hatred between them. I hate it, and the puppet masters are the only ones to blame for it. We as people need to stop directing our anger at each other, but at those who are making us angry in the first place- the politicians.

I’m just going to leave you with the lyrics to two songs which I really like and find fittingly appropriate in the modern day. One is “Peace Sells … But Who’s Buying?” by Megadeth, and the other is “Eye of the Beholder” by Metallica. Read over them, listen to the songs if you want, I’ll put links at the bottom of this article underneath the lyrics too.

Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?

Megadeth

What do you mean, “I don’t believe in God”?
I talk to him everyday
What do you mean, “I don’t support your system”?
I go to court when I have to
What do you mean, “I can’t get to work on time”?
Got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, “I don’t pay my bills”?
Why do you think I’m broke? Huh?
If there’s a new way
Oh, I’ll be the first in line
But it better work this time
What do you mean, “I hurt your feelings”?
I didn’t know you had any feelings
What do you mean, “I ain’t kind”?
Just not your kind
What do you mean, “I couldn’t be the President
Of the United States of America”?
Tell me something, it’s still “We the people” right?
If there’s a new way
Oh, I’ll be the first in line
But it better work this time
Can you put a price on peace?
Peace
Peace sells
Peace
Peace sells
Peace sells, but who’s buying?
Peace sells, but who’s buying?
Peace sells, but who’s buying?
Peace sells, but who’s buying?

Eye Of The Beholder

Metallica

Do you see what I see?
Truth is an offense
You silence for your confidence
Do you hear what I hear?
Doors are slamming shut
Limit your imagination
Keep you where they must
Do you feel what I feel?
Bittering distress
Who decides what you express?
Do you take what I take?
Endurance is the word
Moving back instead of forward
Seems to me absurd
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you fear what I fear?
Living properly
Truths to you are lies to me
Do you choose what I choose?
More alternatives
Energy derives from both the plus and negative
Do you need what I need?
Boundaries overthrown
Look inside
To each his own
Do you trust what I trust?
Me, myself and I
Penetrate the smoke screen
I see through the selfish lie
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom with their exception
Do you know what I know?
Your money and your wealth
You silence just to hear yourself
Do you want what I want?
Desire not a thing
I hunger after independence
Lengthen freedom’s ring
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say
Independence limited
Freedom of choice is made for you, my friend
Freedom of speech is words that they will bend
Freedom no longer frees you
Doesn’t matter what you see
Or into it what you read
You can do it your own way
If it’s done just how I say.
