Artist 2.0

Artist 2.0

Julius Dubose, or more formally known by his stage name “A boogie wit da hoodie”, is now 24 years of age, having been born on December 6, 1995. A boogie was one of the elite artists of 2016 who gained fame when he dropped his hit first album, Artist. The album had his most famous singles, such as “Friend Zone,” “Jungle,” “My Sh*t,” and of course, our favorite bag song, “Still Think About You.” A boogie is also known for his hometown Highbridge, which is a small neighborhood inside the Bronx, NYC which can be better described as compacted brick apartment buildings, also known as “the projects”. Only containing a population of 37,000, they have a crime rate which exceeds the national average by 21% and an average of 9 crimes per day. This makes A boogie lucky to be alive and leave the couple hundred acre war zone. A boogie was better introduced to the music industry in 2018, when he dropped his second studio album, Hoodie Szn featuring Juice WRLD, 6ix9ine, Nav, Offset, and Tyga. The album consisted of 20 songs and was A boogie’s first #1 album on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Artist 2.0, A boogie’s new album, definitely embraces the title “artist”: He’s someone who does it for his talent and the love of music, not just to produce music for money. Releasing an undisputedly appealing album, he displays a versatile flow and rhythm that is always appreciated in the hip-hop community (No, not you, Tyler the Creator). In this album, rather than talking about his rough upcoming as a product of the cold streets of Highbridge, he gives us an insight on the creation of his career and what made him create better music. A boogie is known for having his own style, he once again displays a different melody by adding in guitar beats and reposeful singing. This album shows us the fans, the ups and downs of fame, and how they correspond. Popular criticism will try to knock this album because they can’t jump to a beat, maybe expand your musical tastes and listen to the lyrics, Norm, you might learn something.
