DaBaby : Kirk

Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, also known by his stage name DaBaby has been blowing up Apple Music, Billboards, Spotify, Soundcloud etc. Releasing his first EP in 2016, God’s Work Resurrected, he has dropped 6 albums over the past 3 years. His name was originally “Baby Jesus,” but after further consideration that the rap game would not socially accept that name, he changed it to his current name: DaBaby. He wouldn’t gain popularity until the release of his 2 previous albums Blank Blank (2018) and Baby on Baby (2019). On September 27, 2019 DaBaby dropped his new album, Kirk, which is his actual birth last name. His album was to intended to paint the picture of his early life growing up African American in Charlotte, North Carolina. He expresses his struggles, gains, loves and loses, and provides his redemption story throughout the his album.

At 27 years old DaBaby earned #1 album on Apple Music for his new album, Kirk. Out of the 14 songs I would say 10 are certifiable bangers. I would recommend this album to a friend my age. However, DaBaby’s demographic is for ages between 15-30, so recommending to a parent or a little brother probably wouldn’t be worth it. Some compare DaBaby’s music to the local dealer who found God.
