Just Another Anti-Gun Control Article

Guns are so deeply embedded into the fabric of The United States. They’re not only a symbol for everything that we, the US, represents when calling upon anything democratic, but they’re a true blue equalizer. An equalizer that can put a female coming in at around a hundred pounds on the same level as a two-hundred pound male. As stated by RAINN, an anti-sexual violence organization, one in every six women will have been the victim of an attempted or completed rape at some point in her lifetime.  Don’t you think that women should have a chance to defend themselves if the goings get tough against someone who can biologically overpower her?

There’s a large overlap in the population of people who want to ban guns and the people who are anti-police, which ultimately means how are you protected? One would be simply relying on the good will of other people. Trust me, I have always been one to look at the glass half full, but if you’re relying on the goodness of others you’re going to be met with a harsh truth. Good intentions and good wills are great, but at the end of the day do you want to rely on the offchance of a strangers good will to protect you when the moment is critical?

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. We typically observe the Second Amendment as a way to protect ourselves from home intruders, thieves, etc .(do not get me wrong, protection in this manner is also necessary), however under the Constitution it reads as follows, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The conflicts I often see coming from both right and left sides is the sheer ignorance that’s integrated into the debates. I don’t want to poke at one side or the other but I typically see this coming from the left. We often confuse the Second Amendment as a means to protect ourselves against others with ill-intent; however, the amendment isn’t up for interpretation. We need guns as a way to protect ourselves against the government. It has less to do with personal protection and more to do with protection against tyranny.

Just the mere idea of someone having a concealed carry will deter a lot of people from committing crimes because that potential criminal never knows who around them are armed. Ha, the irony of guns being a repellent for criminals. If and whenever the United States government decides to “get rid” of guns, they will never go away. They will always find themselves appearing on black market sites and entering the US via smuggling, ports, planes, tunnels, you name it. When these illegal guns start falling into the hands of potential criminals, we’re asking for trouble. These criminals are no longer repelled from entering the public, knowing that no one is going to be armed. They are no longer deterred from violent acts knowing that the law abiding citizens can no longer access a gun because of its illegality.

I’m fully aware of the mass shootings, school shootings, and violent outrages of criminals even now, when guns are still legal. But, remember, the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun and getting rid of them altogether is NOT a solution. If there’s one thing I can agree with when it comes to the Democratic party, I firmly believe automatic guns aren’t necessary for protection. The military, and the military alone, should only use automatics.
