Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Now, if you’re looking for something to forever keep you biting your nails and almost successfully kicking you off the edge of your seat, you’ve come to the right place my friend. This murder-mystery novel consists of a love-triangle that all my fellow book loversImage result for christmas elf are raving about. Seriously, everyone, including customers at my work commentating on it as it sits at my desk. I normally don’t hold something, specifically books, to this high of praise but I don’t want to give too much away because genuinely this first timer author did an amazing job.

Set in the south, a marsh girl with an abusive father, mother, and siblings abandoned her at a young age leaving her to fend for herself. Through this, she found solace in the marsh, living amongst nature and having sleepovers with the birds on her small beach. As she grows older, she falls in love with her neighbor who started off teaching her how to read, write, and fundamental arithmetic. Until, one day, he breaks her heart. Things spiral as the story goes from past to present. Present, being the police officers and their running investigation on the death of one of her two former lovers. Past, being the progression of her life from the age of six to her early twenties.

It’s a coming of age story with descriptions that I personally could never come up with. A very unique and cleverly written story that comes highly recommended. I would give it an unwavering 5 out of 5 stars. Get yourself a copy and thank me later.
